If you are interested in books that were published earlier in my career, they can be gotten through Amazon.com.  Squatters’ Rites is a mystery novel set in the slums of Manila, where I spent six months living with a family of squatters and doing field research on the urban poor. Years later, the book was published by a literary press in the Philippines: New Day Press.

The Comfort Trap: Spiritual Dangers of a Convenience Culture (Intervarsity Press) came from six years of training writers and editors in Africa and Asia, which allowed me to travel into 25 countries, constantly comparing and thinking about what made American life less spiritually satisfying.
